Jonathan’s memoir chronicles his life growing up gay in small-town Oklahoma, through the politics of D.C., to the bright lights of Los Angeles. He spent years chasing the life he thought would make him happy: success, a beautiful home, a Range Rover, and a life in Malibu with the love of his life Vadim. Then, one by one, those things disappeared—their home burned, their money ran out, then while dealing with housing insecurity, Jonathan was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. Somewhere in all of that, through people who loved them and strangers who showed kindness, Jonathan began to understand that the life he had been looking for was already there.
